The Reference Document is the at the centre of the evidence database. It consists of an id, title and statement - the statement being an XML document based on the TEI (Text Encoding Initiative) specification. The specification will be extended to enable words and phrases to be linked to a ReferenceEntity which in turn links to one of the following records: Source, Date, Place, Name, Relationship and Event.
